Philosophy Facial Cleansers Reviewed

Philosophy Best Sellers Collection Set from Hautelook –
Philosophy Purity Made Simple Facial Cleanser & The Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash

At the end of September 2013, had a beauty bag from Philosophy on sale. I had been curious about the brand and wanted to try out some of the facial cleansers. If you don’t know, Hautelook is a Nordstrom company that offers daily deals on beauty, fashion, & home products for deep discounts. For example, if you wanted to try out the products in this Philosophy set it would cost you $48.50 to get the smallest size of each of the 5 products from Philosophy, but this set was only $20.

As a rule, if a beauty product is popular, I usually steer clear because I have dry, sensitive, and eczema prone skin. Nine times out of ten what works for the masses, even when the person claims to have dry skin, does not work for me. But I just couldn’t resist the urge to try out the Philosophy Purity Made Simple One Step Facial Cleanser. It claims to remove makeup, cleanse, and tone the skin. I saw a demonstration done on QVC and I thought if it can remove makeup then there are less steps that I would have to do to my face. Since I’m both dry and sensitive I thought the less messing with my face I did, the better off I would be. Luckily I was right. This cleanser really does what it says and it doesn’t irritate my skin at all. It is a thin milky texture that may be strange for some, but I am used to cleansers like this. I have noticed less breakouts and I haven’t noticed any leftover makeup after using it. Another plus is that a little goes a long way for me. Due to my dry skin, I do not wash again in the morning with a cleanser. So I use this at night before bed and in the morning I just rinse my face with water and moisturize. If you wash twice a day then it obviously won’t go quite as far. I have seen many reviews from people with oily skin that also use this wash, so I think its worth looking into for any skin type.

I only exfoliate with an exfoliating wash once a week, in an effort to not irritate my skin. The Philosophy Microdelivery Exfoliating wash has been working well for me in this way. The texture feels like fine sand and to me is not irritating and my skin seems to look a little brighter after use. I was surprised that I still use this because I’m not crazy about the gritty texture, but it seems to be working for me at present, so I’ll stick with it.
