Spring Break Makeup – What to Take

When you are off enjoying your spring break retouching your makeup is the last thing you want to worry about. So if you are on the hunt for what to pack in your makeup bag for spring break, here are some products that I find to be long wearing. Please keep in mind that I have dry skin, so I’m talking about what is long wearing for me in Florida heat. Take caution with these suggestions if you have oily skin, as these products may not perform the same for you.

Foundation: Covergirl Queen All Day Flawless 3 in 1
This is probably the one item on this list that you can get away with if you have oily skin. This only works well for me because my skin becomes more normal to combination when the weather warms up. This product is designed to be a foundation, concealer, and powder in one. In my opinion I do not think it functions as a concealer. However it does provide good coverage and it does dry to a powder finish, so there is no need to pack a separate powder. This foundation comes in 14 shades catering to women of color. If you have a lighter skin tone Covergirl also has a long lasting option in their normal line of foundations called Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 (14 shades available). The difference is that the Outlast Stay Fabulous line is designed as a primer, foundation, and concealer in one, so you would need to set it with a powder. Also the outlast version only has two “deep” shades.

Blush: NYX Powder Blush
Update January 1, 2017: This blush line has been discontinued, but NYX has a new line of HD blushes that you can look into for $6.49 @ target.com

Highlighter: TheBalm Betty Lou-Manizer
I tried my best to capture this highlighter in picture, but you really have to see it in person. It is more bronze than the picture shows, and I find that for my skin tone it is a more natural looking highlight than the more popular Mary-Lou Manizer from TheBalm. If you can’t bear to pay full price to try this out, Hautelook sells TheBalm at 50% off several times a year.

Lips: Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm
I find this balm to be very comfortable to wear and every time I wear it I’m surprised by how long it lasts. Even after meals and drinks it still looks good. These balms do have peppermint oil in them, so if you do not like that scent in your lip products, you might want to pass on this.

If I didn’t touch on a type of product you need it is because I haven’t found an option that is long wearing. Also, I’ve never worn makeup to the pool or beach, so I can’t make any waterproof suggestions.

Are there any products that can stand up to a long day and heat that you can recommend?
