Stila Color Balm Lipstick Review

I used to prefer lipgloss, then I found a couple of MAC lipsticks that I preferred, and now I find myself always reaching for Stila’s color balm lipsticks.  I received a sample card of 3 colors from a Sephora order a while back.  I fell in love with one of the colors and decided to order it.  Then I fell in love with the formula and picked up a second color not too long ago.  There are 19 shades to choose from and they will set you back $22.  They are typically out with testers at Sephora so you could check the colors out in person before committing.  The color from the sample card that originally sold me on these is called Ali.  The second color I got after a trip to Sephora to check out the other colors is called Sheri.

I believe they are meant to be similar to something like a Revlon lip butter.  I found the Revlon lip butters to cause chapped lips on me, even though the color payoff was excellent.  They have the pigment level of lipstick with a feeling of a balm on the lips and are very comfortable to wear.  The transfer is minimal for a creamy lipstick and they last for about 4 hours for me even through drinks and minimal eating.  I also feel like they wear away evenly.  I’ve seen some complaints about the size of the bullet being hard to work with if you have thin lips, but the size works fine for my personal lip size.  Also, if you are one of those people passionately against having peppermint anywhere near your lip products, this isn’t the product for you.

I do feel like $22 for can be steep for a lipstick, but I found that I’m impressed every time I wear them, so I think it turned into a good price for me.

Have you tried this line of lipstick?  If so, what are your thoughts?  Let me know in the comments section.
